Their fourth book, Patina Homes, will be published in Spring 2021.A new farm home blending modern lines and materials with French antiques. We feel healthier and more connected to nature on our new plant based diet. ![]() As our animal family has grown, we found it impossible to eat animal products. In five years, you’ll also find me continuing to create more delicious plant based meals for my family and friends. Our newest book, Patina Homes, featuring some of our favorite homes we’ve designed, will be published in Spring 2021. Steve and I will be designing more properties for clients who love what we have created at Patina Farm and want to design their own dream homes. Living, dreaming and designing here on Patina Farm. I only wish we would have started sooner. Our soil has never looked better, and our gardens have never been healthier. We also now have bee logs and two owl houses. He’s helped us develop our own large scale composting system, build a vermiculture (worm) compost and compost tea system, create grazing pastures for our animals, and design a wildflower meadow. Last year, we started working with Andrew Beedy, a biodynamic consulant. I wish someone would have told me the importance of biodynamic farming practices and how they can heal the earth. They introduce me to new designs and what is inspiring them. They are all interested in design, so our family visits are always filled with inspiring, creative discussions. I invite our children to come up for a visit. Both are owned by Carole Bamford and are inspiring for their design as well as their organic and spiritual aesthetic. We could walk along a country path, with pastures on either side, to Daylesford Farm. A couple of years ago, Steve and I stayed at the Wild Rabbit, a charming inn located in the heart of the Cotswalds. I could wander around the small towns, private gardens and countryside forever. I’m already involved in two of my dream collaborations: I design our Giannetti C lothing with our son, Charlie, and I get to design dream properties for wonderful clients with my husband, architectect Steve Giannetti. I never know when I will find myself confronted by a breath taking “Ojai Pink Moment” sunset or one of our goats offering up a hilarious performance that needs to be documented. Taking care of them is my morning (and evening!) meditation. I am the waitress to our mini donkeys, highland cows, pygmy goats, baby doll sheep, potbelly pigs, barn cats, dogs, chickens, and ducks before anything else gets done. I could envision a totally different life, centered around nature and animals that would provide the calm environment necessary for me to create and dream. The day my husband, Steve, and I stepped foot on the five acre piece of land where we would build our home, Patina Farm. ![]() ![]() It’s an honor to have her here for our #5MinutesWith series: We have so enjoyed following Brooke’s Instagram over the last few months, offering pure escapism for those of us living in busy cities. Each day, Brooke shares her home with her followers on Instagram, offering a look at life on the farm. They own a store of the same name, which offers imported European antiques and home furnishings in the couple’s signature Patina Style, along with their Giannetti Clothing line.Īnd of course, the best bit: she lives on Patina Farm, five acres of paradise in Ojai, CA.
